Instructor Bio:

Hi, I am Stephanie. I live in Black Mountain on a beautiful mountain that gives me the opportunity to combine my passion for nature and learning with the classes that I teach. Creativity has always been a part of my life, both in my visual art expression and singing with a local chorus, yet I never saw myself as an artist. I have been an Interior Designer, Arts Supply Store Manager, and Professor of Interior Design at Florida State College of Jacksonville. During my teaching career, I discovered how to teach drawing by breaking down the process into step-by-step drawing instructions. I ultimately converted this into a textbook “Exploring Perspective Hand Drawing” which continues to be used at the college and others throughout the country. I am fortunate now to have an art community in Black Mountain where I show my nature illustrations, create an illustration for a monthly magazine and teach Nature Journaling classes. The Wildflower Nature Journaling series continues to be inspired by seasonal local wildflower walks with a local guide here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.
